"Come play with us!"
.
Joining is easy!
.
First, you need to become a member of Dog Scouts of America (DSA.) DSA dues are $25 per year for the first human and $5 per year for each additional participating human in the same household. Participation at the troop level is a "perk" of national membership.
.
You can join DSA by going to the www.DogScouts1.com website and click on "Membership." There you can print the form and mail it in with a check or money order, or pay on-line through Paypal. Dues are due again 1 year from the date of payment. You can keep track of when that is by looking next to your address on the mailed DSA newsletter.
It is your responsibility to ensure your dog is behaving as an excellent ambassador. All dogs must have up to date shots i.e. rabies, distemper, and bordetella
Cadet Scout: While you are joining DSA, you can also register your dog as a Cadet Scout. This is the easiest title you will ever get on your dog! :-) You simply have to agree to uphold the Dog Scout laws. Before you can call your dog a Dog Scout, he or she needs to pass the Dog Scout test to earn that title.
Joining the troop: National and troop dues can be paid the same day, but you can't join the troop till you join DSA.
Please also contact the troop leader by email so she can send you additional info about the troop and our activities. You can do this before you join to learn more about us. You may also visit up to 2 troop events to meet us before you join.
Additional Fees: Note that each badge earned has it's own fees, but earning badges is optional. The fee for Dog Scout certification is $35 and all other badges are $25 each. These fees are sent with the signed badge form to DSA to get the patches. If you would like to learn the badge activities but not get the patches, that is free.
Dues for DSA need to be paid through the DSA website or sent to the person indicated on that website. They are completely separate from the troop dues.
